CHIS - Contribution rates 2014

The contribution rates are defined in the Rules and subject to annual revision. Announcements on changes in the contribution rates are made on this website and in the CERN Bulletin.

Normal coverage

  1. For staff, fellows, students and apprentices the 2014 contribution rate is 4.70 % of the monthly remuneration, whilst for pensioners of the last monthly basic salary.
    The contribution is directly deducted from the remuneration received from CERN, or from the pension received from the CERN Pension Fund.

  2. For users and associates (voluntary members), who receive no income from the Organization nor from the CERN Pension Fund, the contribution is a fixed amount payable every month in advance.
    The 2014 contribution rate is 1161 CHF/month.

  3. Family members are covered through the Main Member. If the spouse or registerd partner of a staff member, fellow or pensioner has an income from professional activity, a supplementary contribution is required accordingly. The supplementary contribution is directly deducted from the remuneration the Main Member receives from CERN, or from the pension the Main Member receives from the CERN Pension Fund.

Reduced coverage

The contribution for voluntarily affiliated users and associates with reduced coverage is a fixed amount payable in advance every month.

The 2014 contribution rate is 580 CHF/month.

Short-term coverage

The contribution is a fixed amount payable in advance for the whole period of cover. Family members are not covered through the Main Member, but need to pay the contribution on their own to gain cover.

The 2014 contribution rate is 13 CHF/day.
